After playing with this computer…I will NEVER dive without it again.
It took a bit to learn all of the functions, and I am still finding out new things each day. If you are looking for an excellent air integrated watch, look no further, this is the one. The computer only takes seconds to change for air to Nitrox, which may also be customised from 22% to 40%. Ease of use is by far an upgrade over older versions, and any other dive computer actually.
The digital compass does have a learning curve to it. The 1st time I tried to use it I had no idea what was going on. After fooling around with it on four dives I was still having a little bit of difficulty fallowing it, but I was improving at using it.
Now for the desires improvement section of this report:
- The wrist band is fine for wearing as a watch but with just a 7mm wetsuit, it needs a band extender, had to leave my gloves because the band would not fit around my wrist with them.
- The second thing that Oceanic might want to take a look at is the buddy check system. The receiver must be a bit on the puny side as you have to be inside a foot and a half of your buddy to get their transmitter signal.
- If you have to be that close you may as well just look at their PC.
Im going to trade up from a Mosquito for this PC. I believe it is the only watchstyle computer that does gas switches. There are 3 gas switches for tec diving. 21-100% O2.
You can also do integrated pressure monitoring with it with a different transmitter on each of your tanks, so when you switch gases, you also switch transmitters automatically. It’s also a Neo-Haldanean model (I believe), which is more liberal with recreational diving. I find the RGBM models to be too conservative for me.
My Conclusion:
Permit me to start by saying it is awesome. The function and set up menus are so easy to use Oceanic nearly does not need to send an instruction manual with it. It took only 3 mins to set up the transmitter for both myself and my chum.
Its a great computer for the cost/the wheelbarrow load of features, and I LOVE the digital compass.
Definitely suggested.
Before I attempted the OC1 I had read several review in dive mags about it, and I wanted it. Now that I’ve had 3 days to try it out, I’m very disappointed that I had to give it back to the guys at K2 that allowed me to demo it. Tevis was great and i am so glad to be be able to demo this. K2 is the place by the way and you will be pleasantly surprised by the concierge type service. I wont buy from anywhere else and they need to get this thing out on the market so I will have one of my own.
Hurry up K2 sell me one!

COOL FACTOR
Enough functionality to make 007’s gadget man, Q, raise an eyebrow in approval.
KEY FEATURES
This do-everything machine includes a digital compass, dot-matrix display and functionality to switch among three wireless transmitters. The latter allows for a buddy pressure-check function. Four dive modes handle air, nitrox, gauge and free-dive duties, and the dot-matrix display is crisp and easy on the eyes. All of this comes wrapped in a strong, lightweight titanium housing. SmartGlo backlighting works great in low-light conditions and at night, and the system includes Oceanic’s software along with a USB cable for integration with a PC.
